Gershon Kekst Chairman, Board of Governors

The Weizmann Institute of Science is now completing its first half-century.
This is reason for pride and celebration, to be sure. More important, however, Weizmann begins its second half-century better positioned than ever for serious, productive scientific research.

And this is reason for encouragement, excitement, and great expectation. Therefore, it is our privilege to share the "jubilation," celebrating both achievements of the first half-century of the Weizmann Institute and rededicating ourselves to its continued successful growth in its second half-century and beyond. We owe our profound gratitude to the family of scientists, members of the administration, donors, board members, and friends throughout the world who, over these 50-plus years, have made the vision of Chaim Weizmann come to life in Rehovot, Israel.

To each and all of them we best express our gratitude through a continued strengthening of "their" great Weizmann Institute. May they be proud! For us there remains a great task: To assure that this Institute's great potential will be fully realized. To that, we dedicate ourselves. The adventure ahead promises to be ever-more remarkable.

Gershon Kekst
