Prof. David Mukamel
Prof. David Mukamel studies how the properties of materials are altered in response to environmental changes such as temperature, magnetic fields, pressure, and mechanical stress. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Weizmann Institute in 1974 and has served as Dean of the Weizmann Institute’s Faculty of Physics since 1995. He became a member of Israel’s Council for Higher Education in 1992. The recipient of many awards, his research interests include phase transitions, magnetism, liquid crystals, symmetry properties of matter, and multicritical phenomena. Prof. Mukamel holds the Harold J. and Marion F. Green Professorial Chair.
