Dr. Haim Beidenkopf - Condensed Matter Physics - Dr. Beidenkopf researches the unusual behavior of electrons in topological phases and novel materials, which may have future applications in electronic circuits and quantum computers.
Dr. Erez Berg - Condensed Matter Physics - Dr. Berg investigates theories of superconductivity; among other things, he is seeking to formulate rules that may explain apparent contradictions in quantum and superconductor physics.
Dr. Ron Diskin - Structural Biology - Dr. Diskin investigates viral glycoproteins – structures on viruses, including HIV, that enable them to infect – as well as a genetic disorder characterized by dysfunctional cilia on cell membranes.
Dr. Shahar Dobzinski - Computer Science and Applied Mathematics - Dr. Dobzinski’s research touches on the intersection of economics, game theory and computer science, with an eye to designing fast algorithms for auctions that take into account the incentives of bidders.
Dr. Eran Elinav - Immunology- Dr. Elinav explores the complex crosstalk between host and microbiota, especially in the gastrointestinal tract, where such interactions may be involved in autoimmune and metabolic disease.
Dr. Ayelet Erez - Biological Regulation - Dr. Erez is a pediatric geneticist and researcher who investigates how cancer cells are metabolically “rewired” in oncogenesis.
Prof. Ehud Friedgut - Mathematics - Prof. Friedgut’s research involves threshold phenomena – in which minute changes in a parameter may invoke dramatic change in a random system, much as water freezes instantly when reaching a certain temperature. He also studies combinatorics, a branch of mathematics that has strong connections to theoretical computer science.
Dr. Shalev Itzkovitz - Molecular Cell Biology - Dr. Itzkovitz combines mathematical analysis with sensitive methods for measuring single cells in intact tissues to uncover the design principles of mammalian tissues.
Dr. Ilana Kolodkin-Gal - Molecular Genetics- Dr. Kolodkin-Gal’s research provides insight into new ways of fighting bacteria, including a factor that makes bacteria resistant to cell death and a substance that breaks up bacterial biofilms.
Prof. Erez Lapid - Mathematics - Prof. Lapid is working on unraveling outstanding questions in the field of Number Theory, which deals with such properties of numbers as divisibility and primality.
Prof. Ulf Leonhardt - Physics of Complex Systems - Prof. Leonhardt develops ideas for “pure and applied magic”: invisibility cloaking, perfect imaging and optical analogues of the event horizon.
Dr. Emmanuel Levy - Structural Biology - Dr. Levy is interested in protein-protein interactions at both the structural and cellular levels.
